When obstacles seem to get in the way of what you want to achieve leaving you frustrated and discouraged, take a moment to step back. It doesn't have to be that way!
William Arthur Ward shows us it's all how we look at the challenge. He shared: "The experienced mountain climber is not intimidated by a mountain-- he is inspired by it. The persistent winner is not discouraged by a problem--he is challenged by it. Mountains are created to be conquered; adversities are designed to be defeated; problems are sent to be solved. It is better to master one mountain than a thousand foothills"
Stay confident in who you are. You are capable of more than you know. If you need help, ask. If you need answers, seek. If you need rest, rest. Remember how amazing you will feel when you conquer your mountain and how it can change life in new directions.
Refuse to be intimidated by a challenge. Stand strong in who you are. Take action to experience progress and build confidence. Ask yourself:
How can I approach an obstacle as an opportunity to learn, grow, quell a fear, gain strength, and become better for it?
Think about what you are most proud of and what has made you who you are today. I bet it is not the easy stuff... watching tv, checking e-mail, carrying out random daily tasks. Sure they play a part. But the ways you have grown the most have been those experiences where you have had to work, stretch, use courage, feel some discomfort, etc. Parents know what I'm talking about. They have gone through all of these things but find it is worthwhile when they experience the results of their efforts. If you want more experiences you feel great about, refuse to be intimidated by a challenge. Ask:
How can I face the challenge so that I am inspired to persistently take steps forward with zeal; consistently anticipating how great I will feel for having the gumption to see it through?
Look at your mountain enthusiastically knowing that it may be hard, but it is exciting. It may be uncomfortable, but just think in the end how great you will feel. It may be scary, but others have done it when they were scared and you can, too. You will gain confidence. It may be a stretch but you will learn along the way gaining knowledge and experience.
So the moral of the story is: Refuse to be intimidated by a challenge! Take on your mountain... Starting Now!
